You need to modify your SRT 4? Ahead of doing any modifications to your car's factory setup you will need to have a clear understanding of what you're actually attempting to accomplish. Are you currently "racing" on the street or at the track and need to improve the car's power output so that you are always out front. Or are you currently searching for modifications that make your automobile appear and sound excellent? It could be that you are just looking to enhance fuel efficiency. You'll want to determine what your goals are before doing any modifications or changes to your factory set up. Now bear in mind that you may want to make your Neon SRT4 sound awesome and the modifications you make also enhance output and fuel efficiency. By simply modifying one part you may get better sound, looks, power and increased fuel efficiency.
Significant output increases of 50-100% may be achieved by remapping or upgrading to a bigger aftermarket turbo, performing head and cam work as well as bottom end strengthening. Moreover, you might want to consider engine modifications like re-boring, swaps or rebuilding. These kind of modifications are best left to car specialists and should only be done if you really have a need for this added power.
To boost efficiency and improve the sound of your stock SRT4 you should contemplate upgrading the stock intake and exhaust. The stock intake of an SRT4 can be relocated towards the inside of the driver's side fender with an aftermarket system. This permits for the intake of cooler, dense air which improves efficiency and total horse power. Exhaust up grades are fairly easy to do yourself and include 3" piping and a down pipe with a manual or electric cutout to enhance sound. With the larger pipes and adjustments to the cat, resonator and muffler you should get the sound you desire with a modest increase in horse power and fuel efficiency.
There are several other enhancements you can make to your SRT4 which will improve the performance. Bear in mind that you must tune your car for the modifications you make in order to realize the full positive aspects of any each modification. The stock SRT4 is turned based on the stock configuration. If you don't tune your SRT4 periodically as modifications are created the overall performance will begin to diminish. This will become evident when you fuel efficiency begins to decrease or you notice a lag in your car's acceleration.
