I hold a weekly home game and find that my clay poker chips need to be cleaned about once every two to three months. All you need is a pail of warm water with some mild detergent mixed into it, a soft bristled toothbrush, and a dry cotton cloth.
Firstly you need to wet your toothbrush in the soapy solution, and shake the excess water off. Making sure that you do not wet the label, you can gently clean each one of the chips. Then leave them overnight on a clean surface to dry.
When the chips are done drying, it's time do give them a light oiling. Oiling your clay poker chips helps retard other fluids that might otherwise stain your chips. It also helps prevent your chips from wearing away into nothingness.
You can purchase some mineral oil from any store. All you have to do is to take 1-2 drops on your finger tips and gently rub it on your clay chips. Repeat the action once more and when you have completed the task, leave your chips overnight on a clean surface to dry.
