Carpet steam cleaning has become a billion dollar industry. What used to be done by professional companies only, can now be done at your convenience, in your home, by you. Carpet steam cleaners have become very effective over time and affordable for most households. Carpets get dirty very quickly from the tracking in of dirt from kids to animals. It is far cheaper to keep your carpets clean then it is to replace them.
What exactly are steam cleaners? The name alone would lead you to believe that carpets are cleaned by steam and there are some that use a dry vapor steam, but this is an ineffective way for general-purpose carpet cleaning. Carpet steam cleaners either heat water to a high temperature or you add hot water. The cleaner is designed to remove deeply embedded dirt by spraying on a cleaning solution and agitating it into the carpet. The solution binds to the dirt and the extraction process pulls the dirt and excessive water up with a high-powered vacuum into a recovery tank for dirty water.
